ENGLISH: Edible Wales is a Creative Exchange Wales Network (CEWN) funded project led by Professor Richard Marggraf Turley (Professor for the Engagement with the Public Imagination) and Sophie Bennett (Lecturer in Management) of Aberystwyth University, in partnership with Aron Evans (A&O Studios) and Nancy Evans (Artis Community). The project seeks to relocate food with localities and their communities. The aim being to design a logo that captures an iconography of the locality or region, which food producers can use – under a Creative Commons license – to brand and identity their food. The goal of the project is, quite literally, to promote the roots of the land: the culture, traditions and rituals of rural Wales that are inextricably linked to its produce. In this way, the project will add value to the marketing of local brands and produce.
To accomplish this aim, three participatory workshops were run in Pontypridd, Rhondda Cynon Taf, to culminate in the design of a regional food-related logo. These workshops combined the skills, experience and narratives of members of the community, local food producers and visual arts groups to explore how we, as a community, connect with local foods, and how the narratives of past and present local traditions and food production have become interwoven into our culture. Based on information gathered from these workshops, the visual artists produced initial visual representations of the group dialogues. These representations were then used to form the basis of the final logo, which can be used by food producers, tourist promoters, artists and the communities themselves to represent the fusion of people and produce with locality.

CYMRAEG: Prosiect a ariennir gan Creative Exchange Wales Network (CEWN) yw Cymru Fwytadwy, a arweinir gan yr Athro Richard Marggraf Turley (athro ar gyfer ymgysylltu â'r dychymyg cyhoeddus) a Sophie Bennett (darlithydd mewn rheoli) o Brifysgol Aberystwyth, mewn partneriaeth ag Aron Evans (A & O Studios) a Nancy Evans (Artis Community). Mae’r prosiect yn ceisio adleoli bwyd gydag ardaloedd lleol a'u cymunedau. Y nod yw dylunio logo sy’n cipio’r eiconograffig o'r ardal leol neu'r rhanbarth, gall cynhyrchwyr bwyd yr ardal ddefnyddio – dan drwydded gyffredin greadigol – i frandio eu bwyd. Nod y prosiect, yn llythrennol, yw hyrwyddo'r gwreiddiau o'r tir: diwylliant, traddodiadau a defodau cefn gwlad Cymru sy'n gysylltiedig yn anorfod at ei gynnyrch. Yn y modd hwn, bydd y prosiect yn ychwanegu gwerth at farchnata brandiau a chynnyrch lleol.
Er mwyn cyflawni'r nod hwn, cynhaliwyd tri gweithdy cyfranogol ym Mhontypridd, Rhondda Cynon Taf, gyda’r bwriad o ddylunio logo rhanbarthol sy'n ymwneud â bwyd erbyn y diwedd. Roedd y gweithdai hyn wedi cyfuno'r sgiliau, profiad a'r naratif o aelodau'r gymuned, cynhyrchwyr bwyd lleol a grwpiau celfyddydau gweledol i ymchwilio sut yr ydym, fel cymuned, yn cysylltu gyda bwydydd lleol, a sut mae naratif o gynhyrchu bwyd a thraddodiadau lleol presennol a blaenorol wedi cydblethu yn ein diwylliant. Yn seiliedig ar wybodaeth a gasglwyd o'r gweithdai hyn, roedd yr artistiaid gweledol wedi cynhyrchu darluniad gweledol o ddeialogau grŵp. Yna, defnyddiwyd y sylwadau hyn i ffurfio sail y logo terfynol, gellir defnyddio gan gynhyrchwyr bwyd, hyrwyddwyr twristiaeth, artistiaid a'r cymunedau eu hunain i gynrychioli'r ymasiad o bobl a’r cynnyrch o’r ardal leol.
